Dr. Petrov is past President of Washington state society of periodontists (2016-2017), an active member of American Academy of Periodontology,, Washington State Dental Association and American Board of Periodontology. Her involvement in respected dental organizations shows not only her dedication to her field and local community, but also her ongoing pursuit of knowledge. Leveraging her extensive training, she provides cutting-edge treatments including soft tissue gum grafting without palate donors, adjunctive orthodontic therapies to potentially circumvent surgery, teeth in a day full mouth implant restorations, immediate implants, and Laser true periodontal regeneration around teeth or implants, all without requiring traditional gum incisions (LANAP/LAPIP).

After earning Honors in Cell and Molecular Biology from University of Washington, Sofia D. Petrov continued on to earn her Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from University of Washington School of Dentistry. Dr Petrov further enriched her professional career by successfully completing her post-graduate training in Periodontics and earning her Masters of Science in Dentistry from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. A Diplomate of American Board of Periodontology, Dr. Petrov is not only a practicing periodontist and dental implant surgeon, but she has been actively involved in teaching and research as well. For her outstanding performance she was chosen to present twice at the annual meetings of American Academy of Periodontology in 2011 in Miami, FL and 2013 in Philadelphia, PA.

She believes that in order to provide the best care for her patients, interdisciplinary approach to treatment planning is the key. With that said, in treating her patients, Dr. Petrov always remembers that “People do not care how much you know until they know how much you care” (Theodore Roosevelt) – an ideal instilled in her by an inspiring professor.

Dr Petrov and her husband, Alex, have three children, Sarah, Oscar and Henry and a St Bernard. In her free time Dr Sofia practices yoga to achieve more harmony in her life and to radiate it to others.
